Every year, as India celebrates its independence, we are reminded that freedom is not just a legacy to cherish but a responsibility to carry forward. At Ekya Schools, this belief is alive in the hands and hearts of our students – who are already writing the next chapter of India\u2019s freedom story through our Service Learning Program.<\/span><\/p>

What does this look like across Ekya campuses? Let\u2019s take you inside the work our students are leading:<\/b><\/p>

Ekya JP Nagar: Project Green Loop<\/b><\/h3>

Here, students have turned their attention to sustainability. Single-use plastics are on the decline, as classrooms sort waste and upcycle old materials into vibrant decorations for school events. The school garden is alive with new life, and students take pride in daily habits – unplugging devices, turning off lights, and tracking their impact. Every action is measured and celebrated, making \u201cgoing green\u201d a shared legacy.<\/span><\/p>

Ekya ITPL: Roshni \u2013 A Ray of Hope<\/b><\/h3>

For students at ITPL, service takes the shape of sight. Through fundraising, they help sponsor cataract surgeries in partnership with Shankara Eye Hospital, bringing back vision for those in need. Awareness campaigns, blindfold walks, and street plays make eye care a community conversation. Empathy grows as students volunteer alongside medical teams and document stories of transformation.<\/span><\/p>

Ekya BTM: Vriddhi<\/b><\/h3>

On this campus, the focus is on growing roots – literally. Students plant native saplings, nurture green zones adopted by every class, and use photo logs to track their progress. Reflection is key: drawings, journals, and pledges keep everyone connected to the mission of making the environment better, one sapling at a time.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Ekya Byrathi: Project Zero \u2013 Shoonya<\/b><\/h3>

Here, zero waste is the goal. Students lead waste audits, challenge each other to waste-free lunches, and transform discarded materials into useful or beautiful creations. Composting is now part of daily life, and knowledge is passed on through workshops and exhibitions. The effort doesn\u2019t end at school- students take their message, and their art, into nearby apartments, inspiring others to join the journey.<\/span><\/p>

Ekya NICE: Green is Freedom<\/b><\/h3>

This campus is on a mission to ensure nothing goes to waste – paper, plastic, food, or electronics. Students plant trees, run e-waste drives, and create stunning installations from recycled materials. Audits, pledges, and family involvement turn every student into an environmental steward, proving that small habits can build long-term change.<\/span><\/p>

CMR NPS: Beyond the Bin \u2013 Trashformers<\/b><\/h3>

Students here look at waste and see opportunity. Hands-on upcycling projects, e-waste exchange days, and \u201cTrash to Treasure\u201d art competitions fuel creativity and collective responsibility. Plant exchanges, awareness skits, and community service drives connect learning to real-world impact, inspiring students to think deeply about what they throw away – and what they can give back.<\/span><\/p>

CMR NPU ITPL: Karunyam<\/b><\/h3>

Senior students build bridges with local government schools, raising funds for classroom essentials and running mentorship programs that cover academics, arts, well-being, and sports. Carnivals, workshops, and cultural events create moments of joy and learning for both mentors and mentees. Here, freedom means sharing knowledge and opportunities.<\/span><\/p>

CMR NPU BTM & HRBR: Circle of Kindness<\/b><\/h3>

Kindness is the guiding force on these campuses. Students visit old age homes, organize gratitude walls, and raise funds for care kits, bringing connection and dignity to elders in the community. Reflection journals and storytelling deepen the experience, showing students that empathy can be as transformative as any classroom lesson.<\/span><\/p>
