At Ekya Schools, Visual Art is a dynamic and interconnected journey. The Visual Art program fosters an appreciation and understanding of the arts, allowing students to build their knowledge and skills at each level. Learners develop their creative expression through hands-on learning experiences, encouraging them to explore, experiment, and collaborate.

The Visual Arts Program equips learners to:

At Ekya we develop knowledge and understanding of visual art and design skills, learn terminology, and work with a given context. Collaborative work is encouraged, as is making without hesitation and allowing for failures.

Exploring New Media
Students learn foundational art concepts, art history, and skills like drawing, painting, and motor skills. Project-based learning fosters critical thinking, mindful making, and spatial understanding through 3D art and various materials.
- Pattern making skills are developed through complex design and composition exercises.
- The principles of line, shape, form, and colour are explored through educational and visually appealing artworks.
- Artworks are analysed and interpreted to understand different artistic styles and movements.
- Students observe natural elements and create prints from them.
- Creating 3D sculptures and botanical illustrations.
The Makery Program
Innovative and creative artworks are created using technology and interdisciplinary approaches. This program prepares students for senior secondary design curriculum, where design thinking and principles are applied to solve real-world problems and create functional and aesthetic designs.
- Medium exploration and technique development enable innovative and creative artworks.
- Representation of dreams and ideas through visual media, such as painting and sculpture, is encouraged.
- Observation and study of still life compositions develop observation and drawing skills.
