Ekya is a community of children, educators, and parents where everyone learns together. Drawing on the 35-year educational legacy of the CMR Group of Institutions and the innovative methods of school systems around the world, our learning model goes beyond conventional norms. We apply interdisciplinary skills to think differently and solve real-world problems. Inspired by the Sanskrit word “Aikyam”, which stands for oneness, the word Ekya evokes the ideals of community, collaboration, individuality, and unity.

Legacy
The CMR Group of Institutions was created as a tribute to the visionary educationist Sri Chikka Muniyappa Reddy.
The CMR Group is spread across Bangalore, with 11 active campuses. The Group offers academic programs covering such topics as engineering, education, law, management, biosciences, business administration and psychology for undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels.
We have partnered with the National Educational Trust, inaugurating the NPS International School in Singapore – a 6-acre campus. We enable children to learn through our schools, research centers, pre-university colleges and our private universities.
Ekya Schools is the latest addition in the CMR Group of K-12 schools.
The CMR Jnanadhara Trust was established in 1990, as a tribute to the late Sri Chikka Muniyappa Reddy, a visionary educationist and philanthropist who believed that every individual deserves access to a quality education. In accordance with his vision, the CMR educational institutes were founded to give every student a chance at an outstanding, value-based and well-rounded education. The CMR Jnanadhara Trust supports and manages all the activities of the CMR Group of Institutions.
CMR(U) was established to advance university education in technical, health, management, and the life sciences. CMR(U) believes creativity is the key component to excel in our world. We recognise independent thinkers, artists, product leaders, designers, and innovators are the need of the hour.
Inculcating creative concepts and design thinking in our students, we develop skills such as teamwork, presentation, initiative, and research capability. CMR(U) aims to foster creative communities where students can be nurtured to make discoveries and share creations.
Founded in 2010, Ekya Schools, part of the CMR Group of Institutions, is a forward-thinking chain of K-12 schools that promotes a culture of community and collaboration. The school emphasises cultivating curiosity and inquisitiveness through active learning. Ekya’s curriculum, instructional methods, and assessment practices are centred around students, incorporating the latest research and evidence. To maintain the highest learning standards, Ekya’s educators participate in specialised professional development programmes created internally.

Vice President, CMR Group of Institutions
Dr. Tristha Ramamurthy is the Vice President of CMR Group of Institutions, Founder of Ekya Schools and Provost of CMR University, Bangalore. CMR Group is an educational conglomerate established in 1991 in Bangalore with over 20,000 students, from Montessori to post-doctoral scholars.
Dr. Tristha founded Ekya Schools in 2010, a chain of dynamic schools designed with the aim of bringing pedagogically sound, research-based learning experiences to India. She spearheads K-12 initiatives under the CMR Group, overseeing state board, CBSE, ICSE, IGCSE, and pre-university institutes, with an overall strength of 7000 students. Dr. Tristha brings cutting-edge educational advancements to Ekya through her exposure to the principles of the Project Zero Classroom from Harvard University, inquiry-based learning from the Reggio Emilia approach in Italy, and design thinking from Stanford d.school.
CMR University is a private university in Karnataka established in 2013 with over 9000 students. As the Provost, Dr. Tristha leads transformative academic and administrative initiatives to support students’ growth.
Dr. Tristha’s academic qualifications include a Master’s degree in Education from Stanford University and a bachelor’s degree from Singapore Management University. She also holds a Doctorate in Education from King’s College, London. She is currently enrolled in the prestigious Owner/President Management Program at Harvard Business School.

Ekya Early Years
At Ekya Early years we encourage independent learning in mixed-age classrooms while developing children's physical, cognitive, social, and emotional aspects.
Ekya Primary School
(Grades 1-5)
Our primary school program nourishes the minds of our students with holistic values. We encourage active learning inside and outside the classroom.
Ekya Middle School
(Grades 6-8)
Our middle school program provides a challenging environment where students start applying what they learn in class to the outside world.
Ekya Senior School
(Grades 9-12)
Our Senior School prepares students to compete on a global scale by developing international competencies in them.
