Service Learning Program
The Service Learning Program helps students identify as part of the community and develop civic engagement skills. Apart from the opportunities to work with diverse members of the community and fundraising drives, service learning is a teaching and learning potential that integrates meaningful community service with instruction and a program to teach civic responsibility. In partnership with their teachers, students identify a cause they would like to focus on.
The initiatives under SLP include: Newspaper Drives: Organised annually, we were able to generate Rs. 20000 in our last drive. All efforts were dedicated to charity. ITC Wow! Program: Under this program, old newspapers, cartons and books are exchanged for notebooks and stationery. Grameen Mahila Sangh: An organization for the welfare and empowerment of destitute children, women, aged and partially impaired. A strong bond is formed as the students share the notebooks, stationery and amount generated during the newspaper drive. Ekya CARES Program: Standing for creativity, action, research, empathy and sustainability – this program places students in real-life scenarios and inspires them to be responsible and find solutions in the spur of the moment. The Environmental Club is a significant subsidiary of our SLP. As a part of World Environment Day, the students planted 22 saplings last year.
