SERVICE LEARNING
PROGRAM

At Ekya, our Service Learning Program helps students see themselves as responsible members of their community while developing valuable civic engagement skills. Guided by their teachers, students choose causes they care about and take meaningful action, learning first-hand how their efforts can make a difference.
Students actively work with diverse groups and contribute to real needs through various initiatives:

The initiatives under SLP include:
Newspaper Drives: Organised annually, our students collected old newspapers and raised ₹20,000 in the last drive — every rupee dedicated to charity.
ITC Wow! Program: Through this program, students exchange old newspapers, cartons, and books for fresh notebooks and stationery, reinforcing the importance of recycling and reuse.
Grameen Mahila Sangh: By partnering with this organisation that supports destitute children, women, the elderly, and the differently-abled, students share collected stationery and funds, building meaningful connections and learning the value of giving back.

ITC Wow! Program: Under this program, old newspapers, cartons and books are exchanged for notebooks and stationery.
Grameen Mahila Sangh: An organization for the welfare and empowerment of destitute children, women, aged and partially impaired. A strong bond is formed as the students share the notebooks, stationery and amount generated during the newspaper drive.

Ekya CARES Program: Representing Creativity, Action, Research, Empathy, and Sustainability, this unique program places students in real-life situations that require them to think on their feet, take initiative, and practice empathy.
The Environmental Club: As part of their commitment to the environment, students planted 22 saplings on World Environment Day last year, showing their dedication to sustainability.

Our Previous Work
Our students also step up during times of need — raising ₹80,000 for Sankara Eye Hospital, ₹30,000 to fund eye surgeries at Ekya ITPL, and coming together to support flood relief efforts for Kerala.
Through these hands-on projects, students don’t just learn about civic responsibility — they live it, becoming compassionate, socially aware individuals ready to make a positive impact on the world around them.
